Different Types of Health Insurance Plans

ACA/Obamacare Plans

These are major medical coverage that you cannot be denied for due to any pre-existing conditions. It is affordable IF you get a government subsidy on the monthly premiums. If you aren't getting that discount, it is way more expensive than most plans out there.

Employer Plans

These are AMAZING for the employee themselves but they can get really expensive when you start adding family members onto the policy. This is because employers are contributing a portion to only the EMPLOYEE; family members are stuck paying full price.

Private Plans

These are health-based so there is an approval process and not everyone can qualify.

Because you're relatively healthy, you're getting preferred rates so it is cheaper than most plans with better coverage

Short-term Plans

These plans are designed to bridge the gap between plans (under 3 months) and protect you in the event that something major were to happen to you or your family. These are typically the cheapest plans but don't cover day-to-day services.

"I thought I could only enroll into a plan during Open Enrollment?"

This is only for ACA/Obamacare plans. Private insurance is available year-round for enrollment.
